Students were asked to put themselves in a hypothetical situation where a popular magazine contacts the agency where they are working. This magazine wants some new ideas for their upcoming cover in April to change their look.
Choose a magazine to design for: Vogue, Wired, or People. Then create a magazine cover that uses illustration as the main part of the design. Art direct a photo-shoot for the photos used on the cover and use Photoshop to edit the photos before using Adobe Illustrator to create the rest of the magazine cover.
I chose Vogue magazine and gathered inspiration from vintage 1950s covers as well as recent covers with a vintage flair. Next, I styled and photographed the model giving emphasis to the retro styled hair scarf. Through a combination of Photoshop filters and illustrations done with Adobe Illustrator, I created a cohesive magazine cover that uses elements of Vogue’s current style along with new elements of illustration.
